 Yes!, depreciation is allowable on purchase of asset for business purpose by cash, subject to certain conditions. The asset must be used for the business or profession of the assessee, and it must be owned, wholly or partly, by the assessee. The asset must also have a useful life of more than one year. However, there is a restriction on claiming depreciation on assets purchased in cash. Section 43 of the Income Tax Act, 1961, disallows the capital expenditure incurred in cash for certain specified assets, including fixed assets. This means that if you purchase an asset for your business in cash, you will not be able to claim depreciation on the cost of the asset. There are a few exceptions to this rule. For example, you will still be able to claim depreciation on assets purchased in cash if the amount of the expenditure does not exceed Rs. 20,000. The government has launched the new BIS-Care app in the country for users to check the quality of ISI and hallmarks of any product. The app has been introduced by Consumer Affairs Minister Ram Vilas Paswan. For those who don't know, BIS is the national standard-setting body in India. BIS full form is Bureau of Indian Standards.


The minister also launched three portals of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) on standardisation, conformity assessment and training, which consumers and stakeholders can login through www.manakonline.in.

The BIS is the national standards setting body in the country. So far, it has set 20,866 standards and mandatory standards for 358 products. The ISI mark is a standards-compliance mark for industrial products in India since 1955. Hallmark is quality certification for gold jewellery.

# What is BIS Care App?



The new BIS-Care app will allow users to check and know about the quality of the products that are ISI and hallmark quality-certified. This will allow users to be aware of the authenticity of products and even file complaints about the products that aren't authentic. The app is available in both Hindi and English for the ease of use. With the app, users can access the complete Complaint Management System and perform the same tasks as the BIS website. the government is developing electronic-BIS to further enforce the implementation of the standards. Additionally, a Consumer Engagement portal will also be introduced soon for the online registration of consumer groups, submission of approvals, and more.

BIS Certification is a means for providing third party guarantee of quality, safety and reliability of products to the customer. BIS Certification allows the licensees to use the popular ISI mark on their product, which is synonymous with quality products.

The government of India has made BIS certificate mandatory for certain items including electrical, Toys, electronics products, LED lights and few electronic goods for customs clearance for goods imported from China or other countries.

# Objective of the BIS App ?

However, the primary and most recognized objective of BIS is to formulate and prescribe the standards for products for their certification. BIS also ensures the harmonious development of the activities of standardization, marking and quality certification of goods.


# What is the features of BIS APP ?

The mobile app provides consumers the facility to access the complete Complaint Management System. Consumers can lodge their grievances, preferably with supporting evidence, against ISI marked / BIS certified products or services rendered to them by BIS.

The app is currently available for Android users.

It supports two languages - English and Hindi

A consumer need to register through a simplified one time registration process. The user is required to enter details such as name and mobile number with an option to provide email-id as well. The user can use the app after an initial email verification done through a One Time Password.

The app provides the consumer with facility to lodge complaints regarding any of the following issues:

✓ Quality of Product (ISI Marked/Hallmarked/Registration Marked)

✓ Misuse of ISI Mark/Hallmark/Registration Mark

✓ Misleading Advertisements.

✓ Others related to BIS


# How to Mobile app to identify BIS Certified Products? 

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Mobile app allows users to search for licenses and manufacturers by license/registration number, firm name or product name. Details about the license or registration status can be viewed, including its status and validity. The app also has links for GIS-based lab view, user feedback and the BIS web site.
